I started chasing storms, especially the Arizona Monsoon, many years before I bought my first digital camera. I have boxes of lightning images captured on film, and have always loved the beauty of a thunderstorm. After moving back home to the Pacific Northwest in 2012 though, the term “Chasing Storms” seems to have taken on a new meaning for me.
I just returned from Arizona and a week of chasing storms. I have been able to go back at least once for the last three years, and there is one thing that now seems to be a constant, when I get to town the storms seems to die down a lot until I get on the airplane to head back home. Who knew that for me I would start chasing storms away :-)
I don’t want you to think that I don’t see storms while I am there, I got this image of a distant storm on the first night I was there, but in the entire week I only chased one severe warned thunderstorm.
